Articulating a body of knowledge is an essential step toward developing a profession because it represents a broad consensus regarding the contents of the discipline. Without such a consensus, there is no way to validate a licensing examination, set a curriculum to prepare individuals for the examination, or formulate criteria for accrediting the curriculum. The SWEBOK project (http://www.swebok.org) is now nearing the end of the second of its three phases. Here we summarize the results to date and provide an overview of the project and its status. Pierre Bourque, Robert Dupuis, and Alain Abran, University of Quebec at Montreal James W. Moore, The MITRE Corporation Leonard Tripp, The Boeing Company The Guide to the Software Engineering Body of Knowledge Repor t ing on the SWEBOK projec t, the authors—who represent the projec t ’s editoria l team—discuss the three-phase plan to charac terize a body of knowledge, a v ital step toward developing sof t ware engineering as a profession.

In this paper, we present the results of a project conducted to analyze the coverage of the roles within the Bombardier Engineering System (BES) Software Engineering (SWE) process definition and subsequently improve the role definitions. This is the common software engineering process definition of Bombardier’s Transportation division. Role definitions were analyzed using three internationally ...
متن کاملA SWEBOK-based Viewpoint of the Web Engineering Discipline
Despite web engineering being an emerging discipline, there is currently an important array of literature on this subject. The aim of this paper is to provide a software engineering-based view of the web engineering discipline reviewing and classifying a significant part of the software engineering-related literature that makes up its body of knowledge. In order to facilitate the classification...
